Horses to Watch

Dec 10, 2002 5:25 AM

HOLLYWOOD PARK

UNDERPINNING: Was shipped in by sharp East Coast trainer Patrick Biancone and ridden by low profile jock Tony Farina. Was bet from 20-1 morning line to 7-1 and won going away by eight open lengths. Must use on the move up. Put jock and trainer combo on your watch list. $$$.

GEORGE BAILEY: Hope this guy returns before Christmas. Will help us out with our shopping money. GB was taken north to break his maiden on the turf. Returned south and quickly put away a decent group of turfers on the move up and bet down. He really made it look easy and looked great. This 3-year-old really peaking on the grass. Follow for the three-peat.

TAJ: Was let go at 35-1 in last and I was all over this guy, but could not get untracked. Worth a big shot in next going long on the grass. $$$.

CHOGORI: Bobbled at the start, got caught between horses and lost linters. Look for the money run in next.

MUD SHARK: Was making his move when steadied off heels nearing the quarter pole. Got clear and ran on for the place. Was dead solid. Shark will get the money in next with clean trip.

ES SPECIAL: Out of the same race as Mud Shark this guy ran a bang up third after an eventful trip. Bet with confidence in next.

VIERNES: Woke up to run a smasher for Paulo Lobo. Could be his next big horse.

HIDDEN PATH: Was shipped in from Fair Grounds and was a very live item for the dangerous Singh (follow this guy with shippers he is very serious). Ran his heart out but could not overhaul the lone speed and settled for second. Redemption in next.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

WILD BY NATURE: Rushed the gate prior to being sprung, then was back on his heels and off slow. Rallied from last into contention but was behind a wall of horses in upper stretch. Angled out sharply for room and was coming fastest at the end. Think you can send it in on this guy in next. $$$.

MORNINGS MINION: Was bumped and impeded into the first turn. Forced to rally six wide on the turn. Loomed in upper stretch but flattened out in the lane. May see this guy go back south. Either way he should get there in next going long on the grass.

NO NIGHT: Raced behind heavy traffic to the second turn, then was blocked and bumped hard. Shifted outside, circled five wide and somehow got up to win by a head. Repeat.

BELLA TIZZY: Tried to rally inside on the second turn, but was blocked behind horses. Took back and fought back to get the place. Was best in last and gets there in next with clear sailing.

MISS ERICA: Tracked from the rail. Was in tight into the second turn, checked and had to wait for room. Closed with a rush to get beat a slim nostril. Look for Miss Erica to pound her opponents in next going long on the turf.

CALL IT: Was fractious before the start. Checked into the first turn, completely lost interest and ran last. Forgive and bet on the rebound.

DIRECT MALE: Had a case of the wides or would have got there in last race. Very nice effort on grass. This 2-year-old may have found a home on the green. Follow.

ROCKENELLE: Got off at 19-1 in last and ran a big one despite a bad stumble at the start. Was off last, but closed with a lot of interest to get third. This girl will be worth a stab in next at another big price.

JACIRO: Was a live first-timer trained by the ever-capable Jeff Bond. Completely destroyed her field and should move on up and score again.
