Pombo, Benak on Cannery Executive team

Preparing for next week’s opening, Bill Paulos, a Cannery Casino Resorts principal, has completed his staffing with the appointment of Lew Pombo as director of surveillance and Chris Benak as casino controller.

Both Pombo and Benak will maintain their identical positions at The Rampart Casino, also operated by Paulos and his associates.

Pombo most recently set up the surveillance operations at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He also has been involved with a number of Native American casinos throughout North America. He served with Mississippi law enforcement departments.

Benak was assistant financial controller at the Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower and served as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche accounting firm before joining the gaming industry.

In another announcement involving the Rampart Casino at The Resort at Summerlin, Paulos named Richard Cisan as players club manager.

Cisan, an alumnus of University of Nevada, Las Vegas, began his career in gaming while still in college with a slot floorperson position at the Las Vegas Hilton. He later was a casino host at Buffalo Bill’s Casino in Primm, Nev., and returned to the Las Vegas Hilton in 1999 as a casino host.

Tom Nugent has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing at JCM American Corporation. He joined the company in July 2001 after years of service with the Timken Company of Canton, Ohio.

Melody Sullivan is the new chief financial officer at Paul-Son Gaming Corp. Most recently, she was corporate controller for Serrot International Inc.

Saying that the company has "failed to meet the expectations of the board of directors, Innovative Gaming Corp. of America (IGCA) announced the resignation of its CEO Laus Abdo. Replacing him will be Wayne W. Mills, the company’s largest shareholder.

Concerned about irregularities, World Gaming Plc of London, England, has suspended its CEO, David Graven. The charges being alleged were not specified.
