Spot-less effort lands Bookies title

Dec 31, 2002 6:26 AM

The Barbary Coast, on the strength of stellar oddsmaker Johnny Spot, stands above all others at the champion of the 2002 GamingToday Bookies Battle.

Spot posted a solid 10-5 mark to make Monday night’s 49ers-Rams contest null and void. The champ opened an unbeatable two-game lead over runnerup Glynis Mickelian of the Primadonna Corp.

Both Spot and Mickelian shared the top position going to the final week. Mickelian’s 8-7 record prior to Monday night’s game was good enough to cement second place.

Tom Wilczynski, of the Monte Carlo, was a close third with an overall 149-106 record, three games behind Spot. Wilczynski matched the 8-7 mark of Mickelian.

Kelly Downey, of Green Valley Ranch, shared top honors at 12-3 this week with Hugh Ledford (Palace Station) and Chris Day (Virgin River).

Many of the bookies competing in the regular season contest also contributed their selections for the first round of the playoffs. GamingToday appreciates the efficiency and time taken by the entrants to make the contest a success.

The list of picks will be published throughout the playoffs and resume for another full 17-week season next year.
