The reigning champion of downtown Las Vegas, Jackie Gaughan, will attend a special unveiling of a myriad of Super Bowl and other championship rings at the Las Vegas Club on Thursday.
The event is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., and will include other downtown dignitaries including Alan Abrahms, the director of Gaughan’s downtown properties, general manager Tom Kaminski, Wayne Starker and Brady Exber, long-time associates of Jackie Gaughan.
In addition to attending the special Super Bowl event, the unveiling allows the public a rare chance to meet the man who built downtown Las Vegas.
It was announced three weeks ago that Gaughan had struck a deal to sell the Las Vegas Club, Gold Spike, Western and Plaza hotels to Barrick Gaming. His beloved El Cortez, however, was not part of the deal.
The collection of Super Bowl and championship rings will be available for photo opportunities, and maybe even for sale, if the price is right!
The Las Vegas Club’s Super Bowl weekend also includes a giveaway of thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including an autographed John Elway helmet.
The Las Vegas Club, located at Fremont and Las Vegas Blvd., has always had a sports memorabilia theme and remains one of the city’s classic casinos.
Its sports book has always been a gathering point for sports bettors, and its collection of World Series and other baseball collectibles has been a fan favorite.
