Two new execs at Palms

Two new executives have joined the management team at Palms Casino Resort, according to an announcement by CEO George Maloof.

They are Karen Brasier, named director of human resources, and Monique Michaels, director of sales.

Both have a number of years of experience in their respective areas. Brasier most recently was vice president of operations and human resources at Fiesta Henderson Casino Hotel. Previously she was vice president of human resources at the Rio Suites Hotel/Casino.

Michaels spent several years as part of the Wynn organization, gaining experience at both the Golden Nugget and Treasure Island and prior to that was director of international sales for Caesars Palace. She also served as director of sales for the Rio Suites Hotel/Casino.

John Giovenco, for many years one of the movers and shakers in the gaming industry as president and chief operating officer of Hilton Gaming Corporation, has been appointed to the board of directors of Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. (PNK).

Giovenco joined the Hilton organization in 1972 and spent the next 20 years in a number of senior executive positions. He also was a member of that company’s board of directors from 1980 through 1992.

Tony Marnell, chairman and CEO of Marnell Corrao Associates, has announced the appointment of Joe S. Rolston IV as general counsel. Also, Marnell said, he has added Linda J. Roe to his organization as vice president of Indian Gaming and Business Development.

Neil Narter has joined Riviera Holdings Corporation (RIV) as the general manager of the company’s Riviera Black Hawk Casino in Black Hawk, Colo. He will be leaving his position as vice president and general manager of Boomtown Casino in Biloxi, Miss.
