For something a little different, celebrate "Oscar Night at the Plaza." On Sunday, March 23, the Plaza will host a gala Hollywood party in the hip Center Stage Restaurant. Guests will be served carved steak, ham or turkey sandwiches while they enjoy free Mondovi wine from front row seats to view the Academy Award show on large screen TVs, as well as the spectacular view of the Fremont Street Experience. Each partygoer will also receive a drawing ticket and 10 lucky winners will receive $100. Tickets are $15 plus tax. Stop by the Plaza or call ahead for a reservation.
Late nights can mean great nights in Las Vegas, especially where cheap meals are concerned. The Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas recently kicked off a new special graveyard menu in Victory’s Café. Check out these midnight to 7 a.m. specials. Selections include a 99-cent breakfast special with two eggs, sausage or bacon and home fries; a 10-ounce T-bone steak and eggs ($3.99); the Belly-Busting Breakfast Burrito, a large flour tortilla filled with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, cheddar cheese and salsa ($2.99); the Tower of Power, a five-cake stack of buttermilk pancakes served with whipped butter and syrup ($2.99); the Buffalo chicken finger burrito which wraps Buffalo chicken fingers, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing inside a warm flour tortilla ($2.99); and Tio’s Taco Special, three grilled flour tortillas filled with spicy ground beef and cheese ($2.99).
Additional menu items include spaghetti and meatballs with homemade marinara ($2.99); battered and fried white fish-n-chips served with tangy tartar sauce ($2.99); a jumbo, quarter-pound hot dog smothered with homemade chili called the Dog That Bit’Ya ($2.99); a San Francisco grilled ham and Swiss melt ($2.99); and the Blue Plate Special, a thick slice of homemade meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy ($2.99).
On the other side of town on E. Sunset in Henderson, Barley’s Casino & Brewing Company has announced the addition of a new seafood menu featuring a 99-cent shrimp cocktail. The new menu also offers steamers, oysters and clams on the half shell.
Stations newly acquired Wildfire Casino has several excellent specials to choose from in Dante’s Grill during March. For a late night breakfast, try the $1.99 Triple Play, including 3 eggs, 3 pancakes and 3 bacon strips, available from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m. daily. For an anytime meal go for the half pound burger and fries platter at the same $1.99 price, but available 24/7. The March dinner special is an 8 oz. New York Strip Steak served with potatoes and Texas Toast for $4.99. Serving hours for dinner are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly.
