SoCal Poker Championship heating up as Day 2 comes to a close

The SoCal Poker Championship continued at the Bicycle Hotel and Casino last week with eight days of Day 1B’s ending with the final flight played this past Saturday. Day 2 with a direct buy-in of $4,500 was held a day later.
The SCPC will move to the Hustler Casino from Oct. 21 to 30 and Commerce Casino from Nov. 5 to 14. For a $350 buy-in a player has a shot of winning the $3 million guarantee No-Limit Hold’em tournament with a brand-new Mercedes and minimum $500,000 guaranteed for the winner.
The structure is the same for all the casinos: Players receive 12,500 chips and play 30-minute levels. There is a single re-entry during the first six levels. In every session, the top 10 percent will be in the money and receive $600; 8 percent of the field will receive $700; and 6 percent will advance to Day 2 and receive $800. If players qualify for Day 2 more than once, the largest chip stack plays, they will receive the following:
• The Bicycle Hotel & Casino: $3,000.
• Hustler Casino: $2,000.
• Commerce Hotel & Casino: $800
Players can also qualify for a $100,000 freeroll for the top 50 point earners to be held at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino on Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. Play in any Day 1 event and earn points as follows:
• The Bicycle Hotel & Casino: 10 points.
• Hustler Casino: 8 points.
• Commerce Hotel & Casino: 6 points
• Day 2 qualifiers earn 33 Bonus Points
The SCPC Finals will be played at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino Dec. 14 and 15, and every year the finals will rotate among the four participating Los Angeles card rooms.
The rest of the Big Poker Oktober at the Bike will feature big guarantees.
From now through Thursday, Oct. 13, a $180 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament features a $150,000 guarantee. You can buy in directly into Day 2 on Oct. 14 for $1,100 and start with 210,000 chips.
The $400,000 Guarantee Card Player Tour Main Event runs from Oct. 15 to 17. The $1,100 buy-in No-Limit tournament has a single re-entry per day. A $900 Mega Satellite for Day 2 will be held on Oct 17 at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, Oct. 18, there is a direct buy-in for Day 2 for $4,300 where players start with 120,000 chips. Visit thebike.com for more information.
