Michael Gaughan, chief executive of Coast Casinos, wants to build homes on the range for some employees of the large private horse ranch he runs along with his wife, Paula.
The Gaughans own a 67.8-acre spread with a 62,000 square-foot covered arena for horses, including stables, pens, pastures and three residential units near Lone Mountain in far northwestern Las Vegas.
Both have asked Clark County for a permit to install 1,200 square feet of manufactured employee housing, for two workers, on the couple’s ranchland, bordered by the Las Vegas Beltway and Centennial Parkway.
The Gaughans’ plan was recommended for approval by the county Planning Commission on April 15. The county originally approved their plan for the covered arena and ranch back in 1991.
