On Friday, Sir Cherokee was declared from Saturday's Kentucky Derby when its trainer discovered a hairline fracture.
The defection left 16 horses entered for the 129th Derby. As a result of the scratch, the No. 1 and No. 2 horses will move one slot away from the rail, filling the second and third post positions (though betting numbers remain the same).
