Discounts and specials for our men and women in uniform lead the way as Las Vegas casinos roll out the red carpet and celebrate our soldiers’ coming home from the war in Iraq.

From gasoline to meals, hotel rooms and entertainment, members of the armed forces will find a well-deserved "welcome home" with lots of money savings deals.

The Castaways is offering free bowling for active or retired military families based on lane availability, and slot club half-point redemption on food and beverage in the Pelican Rock Café during the month of May. Show a valid military ID to receive the special freebies and discounts.

Servicemen and women get a free buffet at the Plaza every Wednesday in May. The hotel casino is offering a free Chop Chop Chinese Dinner Buffet to military men and women plus up to three guests. The buffet is served from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Last month, Wild Wild West offered military families a 20-cents per gallon discount on gasoline. The offer has been extended through May 31.

As a show of "thanks," beginning on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, through Independence Day, Friday, July 4, the Imperial Palace will offer a 20 percent discount on standard room rates to active members of the military and their immediate families. Dependents and spouses are considered immediate family members. Reservations are required and based on availability. Proper military identification will be required upon check in.

Military personnel may also check-in at their favorite Coast Casino ”” Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, Orleans or Suncoast ”” for a 20 percent discount on prevailing room rates from May 17 through July 4. The offer is available to all active military and their immediate families.
