Las Vegas’ newest casino, MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas, has set its sights on the locals gaming market.

Translated, that means MonteLago ”” which opened last week ”” will have a player-friendly mix of video poker and slot machines.

"We’re offering patrons more than 600 of their favorite 100 percent payback on quarter video poker," said General Manager Danny Davis. "And, we are a 100 percent coinless casino, with all games set up for the popular ticket-in, ticket-out technology."

Davis added that he believed MonteLago had "the highest number of 100 percent quarter payback games in Clark County."

Those machines will offer various games, Deuces Wild, Joker Wild, Double Bonus, Double Double Bonus and Sequential Royals, as well as multi-denominations ”” from nickels to $5 bets.

The fact that MonteLago is located next to the Ritz Carlton Hotel in the exclusive Lake Las Vegas community 25 miles from the Strip shouldn’t deter locals customers, Davis said.

"We’re not a big Strip casino ”¦ and we’re aware of the importance of locals to our success," Davis said. "We’re going to provide an intimate gaming experience in a first class setting ”¦ with very friendly and personalized service."

Rounding out the casino games are 10 blackjack tables, two craps tables, one roulette wheel, one Pai Gow table and one mini baccarat table.

MonteLago’s sports book is a cozy affair, featuring state-of-the-art, High Definition TV plasma screens. The full service sports book will offer standard as well as proposition betting on all major sporting events.

"These video screens are the latest and greatest from Zenith Corporation," Davis said. "They offer up to 12 times more video definition than regular TV and up to six times better color resolution.’

Taking the helm of the sports book will be Rob Terch, formerly of the Desert Inn and most recently the New Frontier. (Taking Terch’s post at the New Frontier will be Tony Neville of the Las Vegas Club.)

The 40,000-square-foot casino features a décor reminiscent of a Tuscan winery with grape arbors and Italian marble and granite.

MonteLago is located at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, flanked by the Ritz Carlton Hotel and Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.

To get to MonteLago, take 215 East or Highway 95 south to Lake Mead Drive, east of Henderson, and follow the signs to Lake Las Vegas.
