May 27, 2003 3:52 AM

Commerce Casino will be hosting two special stud hi-lo split events over the next few weeks, including a $5,000-added hi-lo tournament with a $100+10 buy-in on Friday, May 30, and a $10,000-added hi-lo tournament with a $100+10 buy-in on June 23.

In addition to the $100+10 buy-in option, Commerce Casino players will be automatically eligible for a free tournament entry for the June 23 event upon accumulating 40 hours of live play in the hi lo section from May 31 through June 23.

Results of Commerce Casino’s recent Mexican Poker Freeroll include a first place win and $7,900 in prize money for George Helou. Other top finishers were Miguel Carranza, who placed second and pocketed $4,060, and Ramon Alta Mirano, who claimed third prize money totaling $2,030.

While the May 12 tournament posted a $50+10 buy-in with one optional rebuy, Commerce Casino players were eligible for a free entry upon accumulating 50 hours of play in the casino’s Mexican Poker section.

This June, the 2003 California State Poker Championship will offer poker players a chance to compete for approximately $600,000 in guaranteed prize money.

The annual tournament will feature two $250,000 guaranteed limit hold’em events, as well as a $20,000-added no limit hold’em event. Scheduled for June 6-22, the 16-event tournament posts $40,000 in best all around player awards, in addition to $10,000 in best all around super satellites.

One-table satellites begin on May 28. Super satellites will commence Friday, June 6. Since space is limited and hotel accommodations are available on a first come-first served basis, tournament participants are advised to call the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Commerce Casino to secure hotel reservations in advance.

With over $8.3 million in jackpot cash awarded to lucky players in the last 12 months, Commerce Casino continues to offer players more ways to cash-in on jackpot action throughout the casino.

Commerce Casino recently added jackpot incentives to its California games section to complement the casino’s popular 24-hour poker jackpot action.

Moreover, Commerce Casino continues to award Super Jackpots daily from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. With guaranteed payouts up to $100,000 in $3-6, $4-8, $6-12, and $9-18 hold’em, super jackpots translate to super cash for players. Double jackpots are in effect Sundays through Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. and 9-10 p.m.; regular jackpots are awarded at all other times.
