Yesterday’s results

We had the right idea in the Twin Q (which had a big carryover at Stations) but our key horse just missed for the place and then our savior ticket ran one-two in the first leg and we had the winner in the second but just could not get the place horse (who we just happen to have on our main ticket). The best bet of the day at Santa Anita in race seven won, but we could not hit the exacta or tri and had to settle for a low paying late double of $13.40. Things went better at Bay Meadows as we hit our $2 Pick 3 and got back $90.60, so let’s play today.

Santa Anita

Race 3

Let’s play a Pick 3 from race three through five. In leg one, we will use No. 4, Dewey’s Special, who just had a super 4 furlong workout on March 28 and appears ready to roll in first asking on the grass. No. 5, Fantastic Meeting, takes a confident move up off the claim and has had some good tries on the grass. Selections: 4-5

Race 4

In this wide open $32k maiden claimer, we will have to spread out a little and use 1-2-8-9; we will also play one ticket with all nine in this race and hope for a bomber.

Race 5

The ice cold Art Sherman sends out No. 3, Gold Datnoid, who will try the grass for the first time, but is in good form and the move to starter allowance is a good spot. Migliore is back on board as the last time he was up he missed by a head – she will be our single in this race. We will also use No. 8, Dine at Nine, who retains the bug boy Campos, who will try and milk this girl’s speed and take her wire to wire. Selections: 3-8

$1 Pick 3 for $18:

Race 3: 4-5

Race 4: all nine

Race 5: 3

$1 Pick 3 for $16:

Race 3: 4-5

Race 4: 1-2-8-9

Race 5: 3-8

Race 6

We will put together another pick three from race six through nine. In this race the No. 1, Warren’s R Ready, makes her 3 year-old debut after running two winning races last year but having to settle for the place in both. She gets Pedroza in the irons for this 5˝ furlong sprint and he will have her in a good position from her rail post. No. 8, Just N Excess, is another come-backer and this girl trained by Doug O"Neill has speed and looks ready to roll. Selections: 1-8

Race 7

This race looks wide open so we will have to play two tickets. On the first ticket we will use No. 1, Lucky J. H., who was unlucky to lose his last start, and trainer Carla Gaines has been on fire. No. 2, McCann’s Mojave, has won on this course and if Alvarado comes in for the ride this 8 year-old warhorse is a must use. If Alvarado stays at the Bay, where he is listed on a slew of live horses, we will use No. 6, Cheroot, who is one for one on this downhill course. Barry Abrams, who has dominated these 6˝ furlong downhill turf sprints, sends out two – No. 3, Medzendeekron, as jockey Bejarano comes back from his injury and this guy ran ok in his one and only down the hill; and No. 8, Unusual Suspect, who gets the services of Sutherland who has won with just about everything that Abrams has put her on. Selections: 1-2-3-6-8

Race 8

I love this race and wish that you could bet the super high five here in Vegas, but you can’t and they don’t have a Superfecta any longer, so we will have to hit the pick three and the trifecta. There are price horses in here as No. 5, Osceola Prince, exits a key race and looks ready to show his speed at 10-1 in the morning line. No. 9, Noble Courage, is turned back in distance and will get a good stalking trip and is also listed at 10-1 in the morning line. No. 12, Wink at the Girls, gets blinkers on and jockey Solis loves these outside post positions and this one will be picking up the pieces late. Also he was just claimed for $75k by a sharp outfit that does not toss money like that around unless the have some confidence that they will get a quick return on their investment. No. 13, Kilderry, ran with the No. 5 horse one race back and the presence of long shot jock Quinonez will give this one a good shot at the win and a good payoff. Selections: 5-9-12-13

$1 Pick 3 for $40:

Race 6: 1-8

Race 7: 1-2-3-6-8

Race 8: 5-9-12-13

$2 late double for $16:

Race 7: 1-2

Race 8: 5-9-12-13

BAY MEADOWS

Race 3

We will keep the Pick 3's going at the Bay and play a late pick four. In this race No. 3, Colorkinetic, (Alvarado will ride if not at Santa Anita) has the numbers on these and looks placed right off the maiden breaker.

Race 4

No. 1, Best Game Plan, looks well off the layoff for trainer Martin. No. 5, Italian Chick, (I love those Italian Chicks) could pop at a big price first time out; after that it’s an all. Selections: 1-5

Race 5

No. 6, Pointed Home, towers over these as he is sent here by Doug O’Neill and is dropped for the giveaway or he could be playing a good poker hand but it looks like he has given up on this guy, he wins or is broken down. Selection: 6

$2 Pick 3 for $12

Race 3: 3

Race 4: all six

Race 5: 6

$2 Pick 3 for $16:

Race 3: 1-3-4-6

Race 4: 1-5

Race 5: 6

$1 Pick 3 for $8

Race 3: 3

Race 4: 1

Race 5: all eight

Race 6

There are three that we will take a shot with: No. 6, Stand by Your Flag, who is moving up off a nice win; No. 7, Asteri, who gets back to his best game after a failed attempt at going long on the grass; and No. 9, Pecan Nut, has the big drop down. Selections: 6-7-8

Race 7

This is a solid three horse race with No. 5, Fighting City Hall, fresh off a nice win; No. 6, Night Brite, who has a win here at this distance; and No. 7, Anziyan’s Song, who just got nailed by the No. 5 in his last start.

$5 exacta box for $30:

Race 7: 5-6-7

Race 8

This is a three horse race and we will use the 1-4-6 in the late Pick 4.

$1 Pick 4 for $18:

Race 5: 6

Race 6: 6-9

Race 7: 5-6-7

Race 8: 1-4-6

On Saturday we will be analyzing the big three Kentucky Derby preps – Santa Anita Derby, Illinois Derby and the Wood Memorial. Be sure to check back tomorrow.
