Father’s Day was unlike any other for Rodney Sornson of La Jolla, Calif. He had just been dealt a losing hand on a $1 Triple Play Bonus Poker Machine at Green Valley Ranch when his machine froze up, indicating his Boarding Pass Card had triggered the fifth Jumbo Jackpot there. As a result, Sornson won $75,663, without winning on the machine he was playing.
There have been 15 Jumbo Jackpot winners in two months at Station Casinos. Boarding Pass cardholders have been awarded well over $1 million in bonus cash. In addition, almost 32,000 cardholders have received over $650,000 in consolation awards.
"It’s not the machines that make our customers Jumbo Jackpot winners. It’s the Boarding Pass that pays our customers cash," said Stephen Cavallaro, chief operating officer for Station Casinos. "The winners are going to keep coming. Locals know with a Boarding Pass in their wallet, it doesn’t pay to play anywhere else."
Launched April 1, 2003, the Jumbo Jackpot Boarding Pass Bonus gives customers playing slot or video poker machines at the company’s six Station-branded properties in the Las Vegas area with a Boarding Pass card inserted into the machine a chance to win a bonus jackpot, paid immediately in cash even if the customer does not have a winning hand or combination on the machine.
The Jumbo Jackpot can hit at any time, at any place, regardless of how many coins are played. The Jumbo Jackpot also bonuses customers millions of dollars per year in consolation awards. "We’re rewarding our customers for playing with Station," said Cavallaro.
