Enjoy the Fourth with casino specials

This will be an all-American star-spangled week as we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. We’ve also found plenty of ways to celebrate and keep it easy on the wallet too!

Start by doing something good for the community and reap some great rewards along the way. The Suncoast will host a blood drive, "3 Days of Caring," from today (July 1) through Thursday. They hope to have enough donors to supply three days of blood for all of Southern Nevada. Everyone donating blood will receive a free breakfast or lunch buffet and a free t-shirt. Call (702) 636-7111 for information or to make an appointment.

On Friday, the El Cortez downtown will once again host a holiday buffet in Careful Kitty’s Café. The food fare will feature a good old-fashioned all-American barbecue. The hours are from noon to 9 p.m. and the cost is $9.95 per person.

Arizona Charlie’s Boulder and Decatur locations will celebrate holiday festivities from July 4-6 with $1 well drinks and domestic bottled beers. They will also offer $4.44 food specials in the Sourdough Cafe.

Looking for the fireworks? The Stratosphere will present its annual citywide fireworks display and Stars and Stripes Pool Party on the Fourth of July. For the second year in a row, the world-famous fireworks by Grucci, Inc. is producing a display that will be launched from the Stratosphere’s north parking garage and will be visible anywhere in the Las Vegas valley. The display will start at 9 p.m. and will be 16 minutes in duration. Grucci was the fireworks contractor for "Americas Party: Las Vegas New Year 2002" and the 2002 Winter Olympics.

The Stars and Stripes Pool Party will be located on the Stratosphere’s pool and recreation deck on the eighth floor of the new room tower. The party starts at 7 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. Admission includes unlimited food and drinks. The barbeque-style buffet will include baby back ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob and ice cream. Drinks will include water, soda, draft beer, wine and well drinks including strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas. A live band will provide continuous entertainment. Guests will be welcome to swim in the Stratosphere’s expansive pool and spa area during the party. The pool deck will also allow guests to have the best up close view of the fireworks display. The Stars and Stripes Pool Party is open to the public, but all guests must be 18 years old or older to attend. The price of admission is $40 per person. Tickets are available at the Stratosphere Ticket Center or by calling 380-7711.

You can also view free fireworks displays at Santa Fe Station in northwest Las Vegas and Sunset Station in Henderson. They will each host one of the largest fireworks displays in the state at nightfall July 4. Lasting 16 to18 minutes, the fireworks will be synchronized to a music soundtrack and broadcast from the amphitheaters at Santa Fe Station and Sunset Station. The displays are expected to begin between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Fireworks are free, although residents of the northwest may view the fireworks at Santa Fe from a vantage point atop the fourth floor of the property parking structure for $20 per carload of six.

Enjoy! And may you have a safe and memorable July Fourth holiday!

Until next time, "Eat well, play well, stay well!"
