Poker players can look forward to two weeks of non-stop action as The Orleans on Saturday kicks of the 2003 The Orleans Open poker tournament, which runs through July 27.
Some of the biggest names in poker are expected to take part in the 17 events, which include Limit Hold’em, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, No Limit Hold’em, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, to name a few.
Last year, Men "The Master" Nguyen won two of the events; Susan Rosenberg took the ladies competition; and Jason Levine won the championship, No Limit Hold’em event.
In addition to daily competition (which kick off at noon), the Open features Second Chance nightly tournaments.
The Open culminates on July 27 with the No Limit Hold’em Championship Event; plus there’s a Limit Hold’em Championship on July 26, and an Omaha Hi-Lo Championship on July 25.
Second chance tourneys are held every night at 7 p.m. with $125 buy-ins and optional re-buys for $100.
GT’s Oklahoma Johnny Hale will host The Seniors Charity No Limit Hold’em Event, which is part of the Open’s regular schedule of events. The buy-in will be $230 with multiple re-buys at $25.
The Open is a totally non-smoking event; 3 percent of each total prize fund has been earmarked for the tournament dealers.
To accommodate out-of-town players, The Orleans’ room rates have been pegged at $35 from Sunday to Thursday, and $55 on Friday and Saturday.
