Rampart debuts ‘da kind’ buffet

Jul 15, 2003 3:46 AM

Light up the tiki torches and break out the grass skirts ”” the Rampart Casino at the Resort at Summerlin has debuted a little Hawaiian "punch" at its buffet each Tuesday night.

The island feast is served between 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and while the luau lacks Hawaii’s patented trade winds, you’ll find all the accoutrements necessary for a night on the Islands for $12.95.

Island specialties combine the flavors of the Far East with Polynesia. The Rampart buffet will offer entrees, side dishes and desserts with all of those flavors.

Selections include poi (of course), kimchee, mango-coconut chutney, lau lau fish and pork, crab Rangoon, shoyu chicken, and mango and guava chiffon.

The Asian cultural mix is also evident in Kahlua pork and cabbage on banana leaves, mahi mahi miso, sashimi with wasabi, black bean stir-fry vegetables and wok-seared shrimp. As no luau is complete without one, a Leohon suckling pig is on the menu.

A complimentary Hawaiian punch (the real thing) is included with each buffet purchase
