Bikini girlsspice up Rio

I’ve always considered NFL preseason football as a tease so recruiting the Bikini girls makes perfect sense.

The Rio has come up with this novel stroke of brilliance, setting up a Bikini Party Pit next to the race and sports book for weekend football. The initial installment of the Pit will take place Saturday, Aug. 9 when most of the NFL slate of preseason games are played between 5 and 7 p.m. PT.

"I think there will be at least five or six girls working the five $5 minimum blackjack tables we will be setting up," said Dave Pemberton, the Rio’s race and sports director. "We will experiment with the Party Pit during the preseason and then probably carry it over to college football."

For those not acquainted with Bikini’s, it is the popular new party lounge at the Rio. Bringing a part of Bikini’s to the race and sports book for football should generate even more business into a book. Sounds like a winning combo to me.

"I know the girls can cause a lot of distraction, so we’re prepared to get on our loudspeakers and yell when halftime is over," Pemberton said. "Anything that adds a little entertainment and excitement can only be good for us and the customers."

The Rio book will accordingly extend its hours, shutting down at 2 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, opening at 7 a.m.

"We’re also planning a Monday Night Football party both here and at Harrah’s (which supplies the sports odds for the Rio)," Pemberton said. "Last year’s overall winner won a trip for two to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii."

Bikini girls come separately.
