The Insider by Ray Poirier | A slowdown in business has resulted in the MGM Grand Detroit laying off some 100 employees.

Donald Trump now says his three Atlantic City casinos are not for sale. Despite the recent decline in business that has affected all the city’s casinos, Trump says, "We’re doing very nicely."

Because of the Atlantic City slump, most of the city’s 11 casinos reportedly have cut back on the number of comps being given to patrons.

AC Coin & Slot Company has joined with the overseer of the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City to upgrade the property’s slots operation.

Privately-owned Herbst Gaming Inc. has announced that it is seeking financial restructuring to avoid bankruptcy. The company blamed the slumping economy and a smoking ban in Nevada that has affected its slot route operation for its financial problems.
