The cap says San Francisco, which makes you wonder how long RHP Livan Hernandez will stay with Montreal. In fact Livan and Pittsburgh OF Reggie Sanders may each play a major role in defining the playoff picture in baseball. Both are deals waiting to happen, for some reason.
Hernandez is 7-1 since June with an ERA under 1. When he first came up to the majors late in 1997, he went 9-3 in helping Florida win the World Series. Sanders has been with four teams in the last four years, despite hitting at least 20 HR six times. This season, he has 29 for the Pirates, who are looking to rebuild. We will continue to bet on Livan, and win.
