Sep 2, 2003 8:06 AM

Thursday, Sept. 4

Jets (pk) at Redskins. Infrequent meeting. Go against Spurrier and Co and take a shot with Vinny on ABC television. NY JETS.

Sunday Sept. 7

Jags (+3½) at Panthers. Jax is 0-4 in last 4 against NFC South. PANTHERS.

Broncos (-6) at Bengals. Denver has beaten Cincy last 8-of-9 meetings and things won’t change. BRONCOS.

Vikings at Packers (46½). The "over" has covered five straight in the series. OVER.

Raiders (+2½) at Titans. The Raiders will be my go against team this year. An ESPN night game. TITANS.

First week: 0-0

Season: 0-0

Thursday, Sept. 4

So Miss (-1) at UAB (NT). Will favor UAB at home in this one with an improved offense and tough defense. Revenge from 20-13 loss last year. USM will have a hard time scoring in ESPN game. UAB, UNDER.

Friday, Sept. 5

Oregon St (—1) at Fresno St. Super tough schedule for Fresno. Tennessee last week and now Oregon St, who will contend for the Pac Ten title. Fresno loaded this year and will show its stuff in an ESPN slugfest. FRESNO, OVER.

Saturday, Sept. 6

BC (+11) at Penn St. BC hasn’t played a Big Ten team since 1996. In rough spot with new QB in this frenzied atmosphere. BC a good dog lately but must side with Jo Pa in ABC game at home. Very weak play. PENN ST.

Houston (+25) at Michigan. Houston with new HC who has no experience. Will be going into the Wolverines den and devoured in a big-time ESPN blowout. MICHIGAN.

NC St (—8) at W.Forest. Wake HC just awarded a 10-year extension on his contract. Should be able to keep his team a main player. State will be tough, but will side with home side on ABC. An STP kind of game. WF.

Miss (—10) at Memphis. Home side has little or no offense. Will be hard pressed to stay in this one on ESPN unless its good defense forces turnovers. Memphis only able to beat Murray St, Tulane and Army last year. Will take Manning and Co. to cover. MISS.

Wash St +2 at N.Dame. ND used a lot of mirrors to get the job done last year but ran out of miracles late in the season. Super HC in Willingham and a great defense. Irish 3-1 ATS last four games against Pac 10. State will come in with new HC and QB. An ABC game. N.DAME.

UCLA (+5) at Colorado. Bruins hammered at home last year as a 12-point favorite. Looks to be redemption time here as new HC Dorrell, an ex-Bruins WR, will have his team fired up in ABC game. Money line. UCLA.

Marshall (+13) at Tenn. Thundering Herd stepping way up in class. Will see its toughest defense all season. Tennessee "D’ will shut em down in ESPN2 game. Real good bet if laying less than 14. TENN.

Maryland (+7) at Fla St. Maryland with 17 starters back and one of the best offenses and defenses in the ACC. Yet the Terps fell straight up to Northern Illinois as a 7½-point favorite. Have never defeated FSU. State is 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS last seven meetings. An ESPN2 game. FSU

Oklahoma (—6) at Alabama. This should be a real good one on ESPN. Every game a Bowl game for Bama and they should be really be ready. Will revenge last year’s 37-27 loss at Oklahoma. BAMA.

Florida (+14) at Miami. The Canes have owned the Gators last past two years. Lay the points in this ABC game and go to the bank. MIAMI.

BYU (+15) at So. Cal. Big step up in class for BYU and will pay the price. USC off a stellar game but second-year coach Carroll will have Trojans ready for top effort. USC.

Last week: 4-10

Season: 4-11
