Labor Day created a Monday finish to the PGA golf event in Boston, which was not won by Tiger Woods.
Adam Scott fired four rounds in the 60s, including a 62 and coasted to a four-shot victory. Tiger finished with a final round 67 to wind up tied for seventh. Of course, that won’t erase the so-called "slump" Woods is supposedly in because he failed to win other event.
If the truth be told Woods, at 3-1, went off with his highest odds all year. He has won four times, but probably won’t be Player of the Year because there were no major titles.
Bury the slump word. Tiger now goes into hibernation for awhile.
As for major league baseball, the wild card races are fabulous. But as John Avello, noted race and sports director at Bally’s, said, "Nobody really cares."
"Football rules in Vegas," Avello said. "It’s just that simple."
And, he’s so right.
