Stars shine on IGT slots

Sep 9, 2003 7:53 AM

A busload of celebrities are coming to town ”” it must be time for IGT’s annual star-studded slot game unveiling.

Over the past decade, IGT has pioneered the use of celebrity, movie and game show themes for its slot games. Along with the games came visits from their celebrity namesakes.

Last year, for instance, IGT enlisted the aid of Vanna White and Pat Sajak to christen its new Wheel of Fortune slot; Max Baer Jr. (Jethro!) to debut its Beverly Hillbillies slot; and Loretta Swit ("Hot Lips" Houlihan) to introduce IGT’s MASH slots.

Also on hand to add star power to their latest offerings were Terri Garr (Young Frankenstein), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), and Joe Garagiola (host of the Sale of the Century TV game show).

This year, IGT plans another Hollywood-style launching of its newest games. On Tuesday, the cast of Gilligan’s Island, Bob Denver, Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson (the professor!), will help break the seal on their new slot. Also on Tuesday, Barbara Eden will visit to tout her alter ego, "I Dream of Jeannie."

On Wednesday, the still-ravishing Tina Louise (Ginger) from Gilligan’s Island will greet slot and TV fans, and Dick Clark, the perennial Dance Band host, will extol the features of his latest slot game.

Finally, on Thursday, Jim Lange, host of the cult classic "Dating Game," will toss kisses in appreciation of his new video slot.
