I’ll bike on picks

Sep 30, 2003 8:12 AM

As I was driving into work this morning I noticed the bikes that some of these young kids rode all over the place liked they owned the roads. Some of these magnificent two wheelers cost more than my first car.

When I was that age, the only way I could have a bike was to find parts and put one together. The kids in my neighborhood could really top it off and put a piece of cardboard between the spokes to make that motorbike sound.

Kids have it rough nowadays ”” credit cards, $400 bikes, brand name jeans, etc, No wonder the game of football has changed so much. It used to be a learning experience, but now its just another big business.

College football
Tuesday, Sept. 30

Houston (—2) at ECU: We get a rare Tuesday game and it almost looks like a trap, like the Nebraska/So Miss game "under." Well I have to fall for it and go with the team that can score. HOUSTON.

Thursday, Oct. 2

W.Va (+26) at Miami: The dog is a nice 9-3 ATS in the series and the road team is 5-2 ATS in last seven. With Miami having Florida State next this looks to be back door all the way. W.VIRGINIA.

Friday, Oct. 3

Oregon (—3) at Utah: The Utes will be sky high in more ways than one. Last non-conference game for both teams. Me and my cousin Vinny love the points. UTAH.

Saturday, Oct. 4

Clemson (+7) at Maryland: The favorite is 11-3-1 ATS and the Terps are 3-0 ATS last three. MARYLAND.

Wisconsin (-1) at Penn St: This looks to be a good shot for Wisky to get some revenge from that 34-31 home loss last year. WISCONSIN.

Vandy (+5) at Miss St: The Bulldogs have a ton of problems. Looks like a good revenge spot for Vandy, having been outscored 82-14 the last two years. VANDY.

Boise St (—7) at La Tech: Look for LA Tech to make it five straight covers. LA TECH.

Michigan (—3) at Iowa: My best bet in the biggest revenge game of the week. The Wolves got hammered at home last year 34-9. I would lay up to seven in this one. MICHIGAN.

Kansas St (+6) at Texas: K-State is 3-0 ATS in last three. Points look good. K-STATE.

Illinois (+14) at Purdue: Must lay the wood here as the Boilers get even yet another time. PURDUE.

Oklahoma (—19) at Iowa St: I would consider laying less than 20 with the best team in the country. OKLAHOMA.

Tex A&M (+6) at Tex Tech: TT is 7-1 ATS last eight vs A&M. TECH.

Troy St (+27) at Nebraska: State has covered the only two meetings. Trend continues. TROY ST.

Last week: 6-5
Season: 29-36

NFL
Sunday, Oct. 5

Bengals (+11) at Bills: Buffalo 5-0 ATS last five. BILLS.

Dolphins (pk) at NY Giants: The G-Men have covered last three. Looks to be another very close game with the Giants pulling it out late. GIANTS, UNDER.

Redskins (+7) at Eagles: Philly has owned the Skins of late. Lay the TD. EAGLES.

Browns (+6) at Steelers: These two usually play close, so the points looks super here. BROWNS.

Last week: 1-5
Season: 8-9-1
