4 TO GO... This week’s NFL selections

Oct 14, 2003 10:14 AM

Cowboys (—3) at Lions: Dallas is celebrating life at the top of the NFC East after big win over Philly, but this is a dangerous spot. The Lions are home and off a bye week. Chances are Dallas may be a bit flat playing a non-division game and Detroit is hungry for a win after a number of close calls. DETROIT.

Chargers (+6) at Browns: San Diego also comes off a bye and is in panic mode. A victory is a must this week and it could come at Cleveland, where the Browns may take Chargers lightly. The number appears way too high to back Browns so we’ll give Marty one more chance before we call for his coaching scalp. SAN DIEGO.

Jets (—3) at Texans: The bye week did wonders for the Jets, which scored 30 points against the reeling Bills. Maybe Vinny can run the West Coast offense. Houston has played well behind QB David Carr and no doubt believes beating NYJ is more than a possibility. But, we’ll go with an inspired Vinny one more week. NY JETS.

Chiefs (—3½) at Raiders: There will be blood shed here. Raiders are 0-11 ATS dating from last year’s Super Bowl. How can you buck that trend? Even if it is Monday night, when Raiders usually rule, we’re siding with the unbeaten Chiefs. KC has the entire package with kick returner Hall, the Priest running the ball and Trent Green throwing darts. Oakland looks old and in denial from last year’s beating from Tampa Bay. KANSAS CITY.
