The poker room at Pechanga Resort and Casino now has an expanded gaming area with more more tables, more tournaments, more dealers and more jackpots.

Crews began construction on the latest expansion in early October and completed the project within one month. The new room features 37 tables and an additional 1,300 square feet to better service all players.

Poker room manager Tony Covington said the added tables alleviate the wait that players sometimes encountered on Friday and Saturday nights, especially around tournament time.

"Players are a lot more comfortable, much less crowded at the tables," Covington said. "On our busiest nights, we have the space to open more tables if we need them, and it looks like we do."

Poker guests are served food and beverages tableside for their convenience, plus the room is completely non-smoking. There is an enclosed smoking room adjacent to its table games.

Beginning in January, the Pechanga Poker Room will send players to the popular World Series of Poker. The "Last Chance Tournaments" will continue on the last Thursday and Friday of each month. The No Limit Hold”˜em Tournament with $6,000 in cash prizes gets under way on the last Friday of the month.

Pechanga Resort and Casino is located in the Temecula Valley.
