Cheap eats, specials

Nov 18, 2003 3:01 AM

A long standing cheap tradition at the Hotel San Remo has fallen to a price increase. The former $4.95 prime rib dinner and steak and eggs coffee shop specials have gone up a buck to $5.95. Still, not bad deals for someplace so near to the Strip and the specials are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Marilyn’s Café at Tuscany continues to offer good deals. The $1.99 Monster Burger Platter (served with fries) mentioned here a few weeks back has been extended through November 28. They are also currently serving Chinese dinner specials that include an entrée, soup, rice and egg roll from 4 p.m. to midnight for $4.95. No word as to how long this one will last so if you like Chinese food, it would be wise to check it out soon.

Last call for the Mirage buffet. It will close December 1 for remodeling and will reopen again sometime next spring or summer. Of course, they promise to be bigger and better than ever! That’s a long time to fast! With Thanksgiving turkey day (November 27) right around the corner, many locals as well as tourists are planning for a feast (and football) somewhere out on the town. Previously, we mentioned several excellent specials that will be served at the Palms at the Sunrise Café and in the Fantasy Market Buffet.

Another outstanding Thanksgiving deal will be served at Ellis Island Casino and Brewery (EI). For only $9.95, get a more than complete dinner that includes: juicy turkey, delicious ham, homemade stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, hot yams, gravy, traditional cranberry sauce, soup of the day, tossed salad and warm dinner rolls, pumpkin pie served with whipped topping, plus coffee, tea or iced tea included! Thanksgiving dinner will be served 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Next week, we’ll get one final look at several more Thanksgiving Day specials to help you find the perfect place to enjoy the holiday!

Until next time, "Eat well, play well, stay well!"
