Las Vegas continues to evolve, not only as the gaming and entertainment capital of the world, but now also becoming known as a world-class dining destination. Many of the world’s most respected chefs have a restaurant or two here to boast about.

Although many of these restaurants certainly are a culinary delight, the menu prices are usually reflected in the gourmet names. Finding a bargain isn’t as easy as it used to be 10 or 20 years ago!

While almost every restaurant in town will be offering special Thanksgiving Day dinners, the down-home, good old fashioned cheap deals for the day are a little harder to find. Over the past few weeks, we mentioned Thanksgiving bargains at the Palms and Ellis Island. Here’s a final look at several more good values if you don’t mind passing on the pate de foi gras, fancy table linens and the like.

The Firelight Buffet at Sam’s Town will be serving a Thanksgiving Day champagne brunch for $10.99 per person all day beginning at 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. The buffet will feature freshly carved Tom turkey, Virginia baked ham, roast prime rib and over 160 additional selections. Fellini’s Italian Restaurant, also inside Sam’s Town, will serve a variety of traditional and Italian specialties with menu prices starting at $10.95. They will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

The Silver Nugget in North Las Vegas is offering a holiday feast for just $6.99. A special Thanksgiving Dinner is planned for Thursday, November 27 featuring all the great traditional fare and a mouth-watering array of desserts, served from 11 a.m. until close. Reservations are suggested, especially if you have a party larger than four people. Call 702-399-1111 and ask for the restaurant.

The little El Cortez downtown almost always offers a buffet on holidays and Thanksgiving will be no exception. A turkey day buffet complete with all the traditional fixings will be served in Careful Kitty’s Café from noon until 9 p.m. for $9.95 per person.

All four restaurants at the Gold Coast will be offering holiday specials. Among the lowest priced will be the Ports O’ Call Buffet for $9.95 per person and the Monterey Room with Thanksgiving entrée’s beginning at $9.95. Both restaurants will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Prior to the holiday, The Palms Fantasy Market Buffet is half price for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday this week! Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Until next time, "Eat well, play well, stay well!"
