Jacko frenzy in Vegas!

Nov 25, 2003 2:12 AM

No matter where I dine ”” from posh buffets to McDonalds ”” the name I hear most is Michael Jackson. Michael’s supposed stay at Green Valley Ranch surprised a lot of folks, except for those in the know, like me. The office of Michael’s longtime friend, Bernie Yuman, is just across I-215, and Yuman’s partner Brian Greenspun is a co-owner of the hotel.

If was absolutely silly the way the local media camped out everywhere, hoping, praying, chanting for a glimpse of Jacko, and the chance to shoot a photo. Why weren’t you guys laying in the weeds up at Jackson’s parents home in Spanish Heights. It’s across the street from Andre’s estate.

The David Saxe show, "Show Babies," abruptly closed at O’Shea’s.

Local radio/television personality Dennis Bono has moved his show to Sam’s Town after Sunset Station didn’t pick up his option.

Old friend David Brenner was in rare form at his media show at the Westin Casuarina. It’s the funniest I’ve ever seen David.

Steve Wyrick’s opening at the Aladdin has been delayed a couple of weeks because the equipment for some of his new illusions was not ready. This is a real case of being safe than sorry.

Alicia Jacobs is the new entertainment Âímaven at Channel 3.

Due to the gaming license process, the Aladdin’s name change to Planet Hollywood still may be as many as six months away.

Now that there has been an event in the Siegfried & Roy Theatre at The Mirage, when will the hotel announce its New Year’s Eve attraction? And, still no word when its marquee will stop being a tribute to Siegfried & Roy.

Look for all show ticket prices to rise for the New Year’s celebration with Metallica’s Hard Rock performance at $514. The reason is simple: people will pay it!

According to Orleans celebrity PR whiz Candi Cazau, Jerry Lewis is doing sensational in his attempt to shed his excessive weight caused by steroids.

I’ve already contacted Pamela Anderson about being a model for her new clothes line. There’s hope for me.

Eve Quillin, a local columnist for more than 30 years, has written her first book at age 75. She’ll be doing a book signing on December 6 at Walden’s Book store in the Fashion Show Mall.

Ticket demands for Jerry Seinfeld’s December Colosseum date are so strong, a third show has been added.

Wayne Newton will be spending Thanksgiving in Kuwait on a USO Tour. If you recall, Wayne has proudly taken Bob Hope’s place in entertaining the troupes.

Are you ready for the annual rodeo invasion? It’s a couple of weeks away, but I’ve already started picking out my outfits.

Some great country performers will be making the scene from the Charlie Daniels Band to legend Randy Travis and they’ll all bring their followers who love to spend money in our fair city. I was on a horse once. It was years ago at a birthday party. I found it so strange to see a pony walking the streets of the Bronx.

It’s hard to believe that Thursday is Thanksgiving and another year is almost complete. The only question I have is, where did it go?

I can write a couple of columns thanking those who have made me a Las Vegas success, but you know who you are. I also want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. It’s a time of year that can be very difficult, especially remembering the joys of those who have passed once brought to us. Just remember the good times and make sure you don’t get too stuffed from all the holiday grub.
