Chiefs iron-clad
for Super feast

Dec 16, 2003 5:01 AM

With the holiday season upon us, I just wanted to discuss a few things I came across while doing a little preseason shopping.

A note on a String of Christmas Lights: For indoor or outdoor use only. Just tell me where else would you use these lights.

On the box that an iron was in: Do not iron clothes on body. Please give me a break.

On a Sleep Aid: Warning, may cause drowsiness, No fooling!

Just wanted to put you in a festive mood.

College Football
Dec. 16, New Orleans Bowl

North Texas (+4) vs Memphis: Big turnaround for Memphis this year in turning last year’s 3-9 record to 8-4 this year. However, the Tigers had just five "covers" in the 12 games. Memphis lost its final regular season game outright as a 10-point favorite, 21-16. North Texas went 9-3 SU and finished with eight straight wins. Last year the Mean Green were 7½ point dogs in this same Bowl against Cincinnati and won straight-up, 24-19. Look for the well-coached Sun Belt champs to make it two straight. Money line. NORTH TEXAS.

Dec 18, GMAC Bowl
Ladd Peebles Stadium-Mobile, AL

Louisville (+13) vs Miami, Ohio: Great season for Miami, Ohio, going 12-1 SU with nine covers. The only outright loss was at Iowa in the season opener, 21-3. Louisville’s season has been like a yo-yo, but when the Cardinals offense was working they were very tough. Miami O looks like the real deal here but I think Louisville will show up, especially after a dismal 38-15 defeat at Mobile in last year’s Bowl. Also noteworthy is this inflated line that could go higher. LOUISVILLE.

Saturday, Dec. 20

Falcons (+7) at Bucs: TB hammered the Falcons in the first meeting (31-10), making it six straight covers in this series. Look for the Bucs D to show up here and get the win. TAMPA BAY.

Chiefs (—2) at Vikings: Is KC good enough to make it to the Super Bowl? A win here will tell a lot. ÂíKANSAS CITY.

Patriots (—3) at Jets: The Jets lost in mid-September at New England, 23-16. These two teams have split the series the last four years. Make it five, especially getting points. NY JETS.

Sunday, Dec. 21

Dolphins (—2) at Bills: Miami beat the Bills at home back in September 17-7. This looks like a repeat, except the score will be reversed. BUFFALO, UNDER.

Ravens (—3) at Browns: Cleveland’s season is over and so is this game. Take the visitors in a high scoring game, unless there is a snowstorm. BALTIMORE, OVER.

Giants (+10) at Cowboys: The Boys beat the G-men at NY when the Giants had a real team, 35-32. Lay the points. DALLAS.

Chargers (+6) at Steelers: Pittsburgh has always played well against San Diego, going 5-1 ATS last six meetings. I have talked to a lot of disappointed Steelers fans back in the Steel City and they assure me that there is still a lot of pride in this team. Lay the points. PITTSBURGH.

Cards (+13) at Seahawks: No road wins or covers for the Arizona. Seahawks destroyed them earlier at Tempe, 38-0. Road woes continue here. Lay all that wood. SEATTLE.

Last week: 8-6-1

Season: 111-104-6
