Holiday time often means budget crunching. We can still find plenty of ways to enjoy the holidays that go light on the wallet.

First of all, The Palms is offering half price buffets this week through December 24. Use your slot club points or pay cash for half price breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Fantasy Market Buffet through Christmas Eve.

Jerry’s Nugget in North Las Vegas is offering a $5.49 Prime Rib special Sunday through Thursday this month from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the coffee shop. The only drawback on this one is that the special is not available on holidays.

The new All-American Buffet at Silverton will be offering a Christmas Day buffet special from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For $13.99, guests can feast on such hot specialty selections as Prime Rib Au Jus, Carved Glazed Ham, Smothered Crawfish Etouffee, Grilled Fresh Fish, Turkey Stuffing, Rum Glazed Sweet Potatoes and Fried Green Tomatoes. Specialty side selections include Smoked Salmon, Waldorf Salad, Pasta Herb Salad, Beet Salad and Tomato and Cucumber Salad.

For something different, try Willy and Jose’s Cantina at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino for Christmas dinner. Enjoy your choice of two fabulous holiday specials. The Tamales Trio is composed of three fresh homemade tamales each filled with beef, pork, or chicken and served with rice and beans for $10.99. Guests may also enjoy the Tom Turkey for only $8.99. This selection comes with tender slices of turkey, cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. Both dinner specials include your choice of soup or salad and a slice of holiday pie. The Firelight Buffet at Sam’s Town will also be serving a champagne brunch on Christmas Day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for $11.99 per person.

Ellis Island will be offering a holiday dinner on Thursday, December 25 for only $9.95 per person. Select from a Glazed Ham Dinner including homemade stuffing, yams, mixed vegetables and warm dinner rolls or a traditional Turkey Dinner that includes homemade stuffing, yams, hot buttered mashed potatoes with gravy and warm dinner rolls. All holiday dinners include holiday soup or salad and homemade apple pie with topping. Serving hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in both the restaurant and Celebration Square.

In other news, Santa Fe Station opens a new steakhouse called the Charcoal Room this week.

Finally, if you still need to pay a visit to Santa this year, the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay is offering a free picture with Santa Claus with a paid admission from noon to 6 p.m. through December 24.

Happy holidays to all and until next time, "Eat well, play well, stay well!"
