We’re in Cancun this week and 90 percent ESPN is in Spanish. That makes it hard to piece together who is in the playoffs, but with some help from the boys at GT, I think we will get it right.
Home teams have been hot, hot ,hot, but I’m thinking the dawgs have proven resilient in years past on wild-card weekend. I’ll be more focused on those kind of facts next weekend when things are back to normal.
I do know home teams have gone an incredible 64-39 against the spread over the last seven weeks and 31-17 the past three weeks. This makes it difficult for dawg backers, but I think we’ll have a little better luck over the wild-card weekend. Division winners have not earned a bye so they are vulnerable.
So, here are our long distance dedications from Cancun.
Titans (+1) at Ravens: I can’t see Anthony Wright leading Baltimore too far in the playoffs. Just stop Jamal Lewis and the Titans will be fine. Steve McNair is rested and Tennessee will roll. TITANS.
Broncos (+3) at Colts: Didn’t these two teams just face each other two weeks ago? Denver spanked the Colts without Clinton Portis, so unless the Colts suffer from short term memory loss, I think Indy backers are pushing it. BRONCOS.
Cowboys (+3) at Panthers: These two clubs met in Week 12 at Dallas and the Cowboys came out on top, 24-20. No home field advantage for Dallas this time, but defense is too tough to bet against here. Carolina had 11 wins, but nine were by three points or less. Or, something like that. COWBOYS.
Seahawks (+7) at Packers: The Packers have to be wondering what they are doing here? Green Bay is only in the postseason because of a Hail Mary miracle in Arizona. Hard to bet against Brett Favre right now. But Hasselbeck has earned his own honors this season and seems to have the running game to back him up. SEAHAWKS.
