MAYER’S 2 FOR TUESDAY PROS

Mar 2, 2004 2:22 AM

NBA

Lakers (—7) at Hawks: L.A comes off a high-profile matchup at New Jersey and figures to let down here against the lowly Hawks. Atlanta is playing for the No. 1 lottery pick, but a much better team at home than on the road. Take those points. ATLANTA.

Clippers (+14) at Kings: Last game before Eastern road swing so Kings not likely to be focused on anything but whipping the Clips butt. If you like playing dogs, this one doesn’t bark louder. Still, this looks like laugher. SACRAMENTO.

Last week: 2-0

Season: 25-11.

NHL

Blue Jackets at Hurricanes: Both teams basically playing out of the playoff picture and playing out the string. Carolina seems the better play at home against a very poor road team. Give the half-goal. CAROLINA.

Thrashers at Rangers: Back end of home and home matchup which began Sunday night in Atlanta. The Rangers are playing a bit better since boss Glen Sather stepped aside as coach. We favor the home team in battle of also-rans, despite high price. NY RANGERS.

Last week: 1-0-1

Season: 17-19.
