Pick your spots to be lucky

Carol, most of the folks in the poker world know that I believe that there is such a thing as luck. I am the Seventh Son of an only son, which by the luck of birth, makes me the luckiest person you will ever want to meet.

I have found that by being the first one to work in the morning and the last one to leave at night, it made me the luckiest person in the office, so lucky that I wound up owning and running the business. It has always surprised me how lucky I would get when I worked hard. That is why I always end this column by reminding you folks to stay lucky.

I also believe that most of us have the same amount of luck during our lifetime, but it is just that some of the time some us get our ice (luck) in the winter when we do not need it and some of us get our ice (luck) in the summer when it is needed the most.

Today, I would like to tell the folks that I am honored and lucky to have them read this column here in GamingToday (the oldest gaming newspaper in the world) and also just how lucky we were on our European Poker Tour in February, when the "Seniorettes" (Sarah and Claire) were able to join us and come with us to Europe.

We were so lucky that you, Carol, was able to get our flight arranged on American Airlines over to Heathrow (The airport in London, England). American Airlines is one of the best airlines in the world.

You know folks that AA (American Airlines) is one of my very favorite two cards to hold when I am playing No Limit Hold’em poker. They just seem to be lucky cards.

Honey, I know that the folks will understand when I tell them how lucky I am to have you for so many reasons ”” but right now the "Seniorettes" and I were lucky to have you work out all the details and arrangements of airlines, hotels ,trains, and the many side excursions to England, France, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the little country of Liechtenstein.

With you acting as tour director I was able to save enough energy to host the inaugural of "The European Seniors" at the Aviation Club de France.

The annual Euro Final of Poker tournament is held each February in Paris, France on the avenue Des Champs-Elysees at the home of the Aviation Club.

Again we were lucky to have "The Seniors" poker players come from all over the world to play in this historic poker happening.

In fact so lucky that the world famous Aviation Club has already invited us back next year to again host "The Second Annual of "The European Seniors."

I know that we had some thoughts about going down into Spain, and some of the other countries over there on that side of the pond, but after a few weeks of travel I was again lucky enough for you to cut the trip a little short when you realized that I was getting just a little bit cranky and that it might be best to get me back home for some country food and let me rest up and play a little Vegas poker.

I am sure that it was just luck folks but I was able to win in London while I played poker at the old Victorian poker club and in fact I won when I played in all the poker rooms on the continent of Europe. In Oklahoma it’s not brag if it’s fact and you folks know that I just tell it like it is.

I want to share with the poker players of the world how lucky we all are to have poker being played all over the world, in the legal card rooms, on the television and on the world wide internet and that "The Seniors" WCOP will be on line soon at seniorpoker.com

"Oklahoma Johnny’s" Poker tip of the Week

In Oklahoma we have a saying that some folks would complain even if they were lucky enough to be hung "with a new rope."

So poker players, be happy that you are lucky enough to get to play poker in the poker rooms of the United States of America.

Sure, the new rope will kill you just the same as the old. And the rake may get into your bankrolls, but if you play carefully your money will last  long enough for luck time to have time to find you.

Then you can take the money home and count it there.

Until next time remember to stay lucky!
