LACROSSE A BETTING ‘WYNNER’

Wynn Resort has taken the lead in promoting college lacrosse odds. Johns Hopkins, though struggling this season, is a perennial power in the sport. Hopkins is listed at 7-1, though probably not a good wager to win the NCAA Title. The championship match is slated for Monday, May 26 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The favorite is Duke at EVEN. Virginia is next at 7-2, followed by Hopkins and Maryland at 7-1. Syracuse, always a top team in the East, is the other single digit choice at 8-1. Other schools that figure to contend for the title include North Carolina (10-1), Cornell (12-1), Georgetown (12-1), Princeton (30-1), Delaware (35-1), Albany (40-1), Navy (40-1), Bucknell (40-1), and Notre Dame (40-1).

GRAND SLAM ODDS MISSING LORENA

The Hilton’s odds to win the Grand Slam immediately changed after Tiger Woods finished second instead of first in the Masters. It’s time to recognize Lorena Ochoa, who has proceeded to make the great Annika Sorenstam yesterday’s news in women’s golf.

The Mexican sensation won the first major (the former Dinah Shore Classic) and last weekend took the LPGA Tour event in her homeland by 10 shots. She’s already eligible for the Hall of Fame! So what about a Grand Slam prop for Lorena and some women’s golf odds? Maybe, they will come.

• Soccer’s UEFA Cup is down to four. The Hilton has Manchester United the 7-4 favorite. Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool were 3-1. Caesars Palace had Man U favored at 2-1, followed by Barcelona (5-2), Liverpool (7-2) and Chelsea (4-1). – Mark Mayer
