Belmont parties set in LV

Jun 1, 2004 5:46 AM

If you’re looking for a Smarty Party this Saturday, there are plenty of places to choose from.

Anticipation of a Triple Crown winner at the Belmont has triggered a number of parties on and off the Las Vegas Strip. Caesars Palace will be giving away Smarty Jones T-shirts with ever $20 wager at the race book.

"There has been tremendous hype with this horse," said Chuck Esposito, Caesars Palace assistant vice president of Race and Sports. "We’re expecting a big crowd. All bettors, whether they’re the $2 or $200 type, want a piece of this horse."

Palms is giving away a free T-shirt with a minimum $20 wager on the Belmont. There’s a limit of one shirt per person with customers having to be at least 21 years of age.

The Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie’s (Decatur and Boulder locations) are featuring a $2,500 Twin Quinella for the Belmont. There is also a free T-shirt available with a minimum $20 wager, along with food and drink specials.

There will be a free Belmont Stakes seminar Friday, June 4 with renowned handicapper Jerry Jackowitz and co-host Jay Kessler, the Stratosphere’s race book host. Jackowitz is founder of Jerry J’s Power Page, one of Las Vegas’ most important speed figure tip sheets for horse racing.

If the Twin Quinella is not hit Saturday, the original prize money will be rolled over to Sunday, June 6 with 70 percent of the money bet on Saturday added to Sunday’s pool.

Belmont parties and festivities are also planned for the Hard Rock, Aladdin and Gold Coast. For more information contact those locales around the area.
