If you like baseball and a good mystery this story is for you.

This is about baseball and a detective story all in one, so pay attention! Three elderly ladies are excited about seeing their first Major League baseball game. It is early in the season and there is a chill in the air so they smuggle a bottle of Jack Daniels into the ballpark.

The game is real exciting and they are enjoying themselves immensely mixing the Jack with some soft drinks. Soon they realize that the bottle is almost gone and the game has a lot of innings to go. Based on the given information, what inning is it and how many players are on base?

The answer to follow.

$1m into Hilton book

The Las Vegas Hilton is putting in over a million dollars worth of upgrades in preparing the Super Book for the upcoming football season with upgrading viewing, new seating, improved lighting, electronic scoreboards and Nevada’s largest sportsticker which will provide real-time game info.

The Hilton Supercontest will be back. Contestants finishing in the top 20 will be awarded cash prizes. A first place prize of up to $210,000 (based on 350 entries) will be offered to the one contestant who finishes on top. Also there is a $10,000 early sign up bonus contest offered to those who enter before 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 29.

On the horizon

John Avello has really gone crazy over at Bally’s! I will get back to you next week on what will be going on in the Race and Sports Book there in the very near future.

Just a few short notes. I ran into a old school mate the other day, Kathy Koski, who was the hottest girl in class back at the "Ville" in the 60"s. The only problem is that she looked exactly the same. What is she drinking? Kathy is now happily married to Gregg Williams, who she says keeps her young.

The well liked Rob Terch will be leaving Casino MonteLago, where he is currently head of the Sports book. Monte Lago has decided to become a Leroys book. I look for good things to happen to Rob in the future and think you will see him back on the Strip.

Oh, yeah, the answer to that question. It’s the bottom of the fifth and the bags are loaded.
