Football is finally here, so let the games begin.

The books have already started to sign people up for their big football contests and I saw lines of people at the Palms getting in on the earlybird sign up. These contests are a lot of fun and most only cost $25 for the entire season with a shot at winning big bucks.

Thursday, Aug. 12

Falcons (+ 3½) at Ravens: Atlanta has new HC and the last thing he wants to see is Vick get hurt in exhibition like last year. Falcons were 0-4 ATS with no Vick. Billick is 11-4 SU and ATS though the Ravens were 1-3 LY. RAVENS.

Bears (+ 4½) at Rams: Chicago has a lot of questions and a new head coach in Lovie Smith. Players will want to put out early for Smith. Rams under head coach Martz are 6-11 SU and 4-7 ATS. BEARS.

Friday, Aug. 13

Eagles (+3½) at Patriots: Good game with two top notch teams bucking heads. Eagles, best in the NFC East, are 7-3 as a road dog in exhibition the last 10 times as a dog. I like that half point. EAGLES.

Chiefs (+ 1½) at Giants: Chiefs coach Vermeil usually low key in preseason even though he is 3-1 as a dog. Giants new HC Coughlin good in preseason. GIANTS.

Jets (+2½) at Saints: Jets coach Edwards is 5-1 as dog. Haslett only 1-6 in preseason and Saints "D" is nonexistent. JETS.

Saturday, Aug. 14

Bengals (+3½) at Bucs: Cincy will be improved but has little at QB after Palmer and Kitna. Tampa Bay’s Gruden, 18-8 ATS. Lay the points. BUCS.

Jaguars (+3) at Dolphins: In his first season with Jags, coach Del Rio was 3-1 both SU and ATS. Wannstedt’s Dolphins lowly 2-7-1 as preseason chalk. JAGS.

Steelers (+3) at Lions: One of my better plays. At one time Pittsburgh was just awesome in preseason but those days are long gone. Steelers were 0-4 ATS and SU last year and that trend looks to continue. Detroit’s second season under Steve Mariucci appears brighter with more experienced QB Harrington. LIONS $$$.

Panthers (NL) at Redskins: Carolina’s conservative play bodes well as a probable underdog, going 5-0 in last five. Skins back in five days off fired up effort vs Broncos. PANTHERS.

Browns (+3½) at Titans: Fisher for Tennessee was 4-0 ATS and SU last year and stands 12-4 in last 4 seasons. TITANS.

Cardinals (+4½) at Vikings: Mike Tice went 0-4 ATS in first year during preseason. Dennis Green looks to turn around Cards and wants to beat his old team. We like the points. CARDS $$$.

Cowboys (— 1½) at Texans: Parcells has his teams in top shape heading into exhibition as his 10-2 SU and 9-3 ATS results indicate. Capers is 1-8 SU and 2-7 ATS. COWBOYS $$$

Raiders (— 1½) at 49ers: Coach Erickson and Niners are 9-1 SU at home in preseason over the last 10 home games. 49ERS.

Colts (—2) at Chargers: Marty Schottenheimer will need to be Lance Burton to turn this team around. COLTS.

Sunday, Aug. 15

Broncos (NL) at Bills: Denver is 6-1 after a straight up loss. Play Denver light if off a win, heavier if 0-1. BRONCOS.

Monday, Aug. 16

Seahawks (+3½) at Packers: Rematch of last year’s wild card game that the Seahawks lost in OT. Pay back time. SEAHAWKS $$$.
