PGA driving contest favors Tiger

Aug 10, 2004 10:25 PM

Tiger Woods is ready to win the PGA Championship this week at Whistling Straits, the longest course ever to host a major golf championship. This will be like a serve and volley contest at Wimbledon. It’s definitely driving for dough and making the most of the par 5 holes. Tiger has a new driver and is now about nine yards longer. My bobblehead is even optimistic.

Any of the big four (Tiger, Vijay, Phil and Ernie) can win and we expect a final round shootout. So why will Stewart Cink and Chris DiMarco will be right there? Because both are coming to the Straits in solid form. Watch for Wisky natives Jerry Kelly and Steve Stricker.

”¡ Race and Sports Manager Casey Lewless has generated excitement at Circus Circus with his High Horse Pay of the Day contest. It’s 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and features the largest ticket cashed getting an extra $100. Contest customers have 24 hours to pick up the winnings. The event is open to anyone who wants to play. Stellar!
