Free shows are a great way to do Las Vegas on the cheap! Club Tequila at Fiesta Rancho stages Superstar Tribute shows every Friday at 7 and 8:30 p.m. regularly priced at $9.99 per person, but free to Amigo Club members who can pick up free tickets at the redemption booth. The same free deal is also available for the Saturday night comedy shows.
"Honky Tonk Cowgirls" is another free show featured nightly at Binion’s Horseshoe. A trio of vivacious female vocalists perform four times nightly (except Wednesdays) on a roving hay wagon throughout the casino. Shows run from 7 to 11 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and from 8 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
What else is free in Las Vegas? How about a nice little Souvenir Wagering Guide available at the Stardust Race & Sports Book? The 15-page booklet explains the basics of wagering on sports and racing for the novice in easy to understand terms.
The Luxor offers free tip sheets for playing America’s hottest new casino game, poker. Pick up a Poker Etiquette Guide and a Poker Gaming Guide (explaining how the various poker games are played in the casino) for free in the poker room.
Luxor also gives new members signing up for the One Club a free pull on a promotional slot machine for a chance to win cash and prizes.
The free-pull gimmick was once extremely popular as a lure to bring in customers off the street but has faded a bit over time. Other casinos still offering a free pull for a shot at gifts, cash and prizes include the Tropicana (the slot is located outside the main casino entrance,) Slots A Fun, the Riviera and the Four Queens.
Even if you don’t win the top prize, free pulls are still a fun promotion and everyone usually walks away with at least a free souvenir or coupons that can be used in the casinos for show or food discounts and match plays. Stop by and try your luck. As a friend likes to say, "I gamble everyday. Otherwise I would never know if it’s my lucky day!"
Finally, for cheap beer specials during the hottest days of the summer, check out the Westward Ho casino between the Stardust and Circus Circus. Labatt’s bottles are currently 75 cents and Heineken’s are still only 99 cents! They also have a cheap foot-long hot dog for those who like to eat dangerously!
Until next time, eat well, play well, stay well!
