The Culinary Training Academy (CTA) has opened an 11,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art, full-service kitchen and training facility at Nevada Partners, Inc. (NPI), home of the academy.

The $3 million project, which is modeled after kitchens in the resort industry, will function as a hands-on training ground for students seeking careers or advancement in the resort industry.

On the heels of recent expansions at Strip resorts and with the construction of several others under way, the new kitchen will help the CTA better meet the demands of the food and beverage industry.

According to Nevada statistics, food preparation and related occupations are expected to provide the single largest source of growth of employment in the Las Vegas area.

The new kitchen brought to fruition a joint vision shared by CTA officials and local culinary experts. A Chef’s Advisory Counsel, made up of chefs from Harrah’s Entertainment, MGM Mirage, Mandalay Resort Group and Caesars Entertainment, helped oversee the planning, design and construction of the kitchen. Several dozen additional chefs representing CTA’s partnering properties also gave input into the kitchen’s design and function.
