Rutgers solid ATS choice

Well, it is that time of year again when you turn your opinion into cash or a receipt.

In college your "educated opinion" is basically done through research. Your final power rating, departing and returning starters and a few more ingredients hopefully bring some positive results.

Michigan State and Rutgers shows me two teams that already indicate power ratings shifts. I have State coming down a few ticks and Greg Schiano’s group coming up a couple. Remember, Rutgers was the ATS champs last year. John L. Smith is a definite big time college coach, but replacing Jeff Smoker, especially early, will be a task.

Rutgers has been putting points on the board with help of the recruits especially from the state of Florida, where Schiano was defensive coordinator for Miami and still has strong ties in that state.

It just reads too many points for the visiting Spartans to cover against a Rutgers team that wants to start well and make some noise in the Big East. What would be nicer than to start by knocking off a Big 10 team? That’s "As I see it." Take care.
