UCLA ruins 10-teamers

Well football is finally here, so let’s get to it.

There may be a 10-team team parlay card in our future. But before I get started, what about UCLA? They stink, can’t tackle, can’t stop the run. Looks like a second class team. We see Karl Dorrell to be one of the first HC gone. La La land would be a good spot for Urban Meyer, who has Utah on the big time up swing.

Thursday, Sept. 9

Colts (+3½) at Patriots: Replay of the AFC final last year at New England when Indy had five turnovers in the snow and ice during a 24-14 loss. I would usually be inclined to take the points in this big game, but have to side with Pats even coming off three straight pre-season losses. Pats have won 15 straight regular season games, going 12-3 ATS. They got clobbered by the Bills 31-zip in their opener last year. Don’t see that this year. PATS.

Sunday, Sept. 12

Falcons (—3½) at 49ers: The 49ers a dog at home! SF went 0-4 in preseason and just looked lousy. Everything points to the Falcons, so I will go the other way. 49ERS.

Chiefs (+3) at Broncos: This could be the year of the Bronco. Denver 3-0 ATS vs KC in last three. BRONCOS.

Monday, Sept. 13

Packers (+3) at Panthers: I just love the Panthers defense. Look for super effort at home for Monday night and the national audience. PANTHER$$$.

Thursday, Sept. 9

Missouri (—10) at Troy St: These men of Troy really put it to Marshall once again last week and put it to my bankroll also. Troy doesn’t have much "O" but can play some big time defense. Take the points and bet under the total when they put it up, which is usually the day of the game. TROY, UNDER.

Friday, Sept. 10

Oregon St (+7) at Boise St: Beavers coming off wrenching OT loss at LSU when kicker missed the extra point that would have tied the game. Now must play on the blue carpet. Boise almost won in Corvallis last year, losing 26-24 as a 5-point dog. BOISE ST.

Saturday, Sept. 11

Arizona St (+1½) at Northwestern: If NW field goal kicker did his job they would have won last week. It’s hard to win when you miss five FG, then go to OT and lose by 3. Arizona State beat up on lowly UTEP last week to get one of its infrequent covers. Miners just 2-9 ATS last year. N’WESTERN.

Michigan (—11½) at Notre Dame: Irish got blanked last year 38-0 and don’t look like they can do much better this time after last week’s miserable showing. Irish 2-6 last eight as a dog and 5-13 ATS last 18 games. Willingham needs to show a little emotion as coach. MICHIGAN.

Georgia (—9½) at South Carolina: Holtz has new offense this year that looks like it will be a little more wide open. He gets big time revenge in this game. Gamecocks have had this one circled since last year’s 31-7 debacle in Atlanta. CAROLINA. $$$

Texas (—11) at Arkansas: The Longhorns can’t remember the last time they defeated their old Southwest Conference rival Razorbacks, but they really want this game bad. Still remember 38-28 thrashing they took at home last year at the hands of Hogs. TEXAS.

Ole Miss (+10) at Alabama: The Tide are finally bowl eligible, motivated and revenge minded. Alabama has 13 starters back plus its top notch kicker. Lay the points and go to the bank on this one. ALABAMA $$$

Last week: 4-4

Season: 4-4
