With baseball winding down I always like to make a little future play to keep my interest so I made a play on the Twins to win the World Series.

The Twins have blown out the Central Division. In a five game series a team will have to face Johan Santana twice and that leaves Radke, Silva and Lohse needing to win only one game at home. The Twins also have All Star Joe Nathan as their closer. If it goes to a seven game series, a team may have to face Santana three times. Bet the Twins to win it all!

College Football
Thursday, Sept. 16

Cal (-5½) at So. Miss: Golden Eagles coming off big, taxing win at Nebraska and coming back in five days to face a real good Cal team. Cal had the luxury of playing New Mexico State five days ago at home. Dynamics favor Cal which must win first of three straight road games. CAL.

Friday, Sept. 17

Conn (+8½) at BC: Conn 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS in three games with BC. Eagles put it to Penn St last week while UConn was in life and death struggle to pull out win vs. Duke. This is first conference game for both. BC looks primed to win Big East but Huskies are on the rise as they try to get football to the level of their hoops teams. Take the points! UCONN.

Saturday, Sept. 18

San Diego St. (+23) at Mich:SD State. has 16 starters back from a team that went 6-6 last year and almost knocked off Ohio State in Columbus. San Diego St. can play defense and should stay close. Take the points as Michigan licks their wounds and just wants to get back in the win column. SD STATE.

Maryland (+7) at W. Virginia: Maryland has covered last four meetings and five of last six. However the favorite in the series has covered seven of last nine games. Must side with revenge-minded and much improved WVU squad which can put the points up in bunches and looking to win the Big East conference with the departure of Miami. WVU gets big time revenge after four years of drubbings by Maryland. W.VIRGINIA $$$

Ohio St (-3) at NC State: Wrong favorite? Buckeyes narrowly escaped at home last year winning in overtime 44-38. Buckeyes narrowly escaped last week at home against Marshall. NC St. had week off to get ready for this game. NC St. down a little from last year but have been a super dog under HC Chuck Amato going 11-3 ATS. Points look great here and a money line bet also looks good. NC STATE $$$

Oregon (+26) at Okla State:Wow, Oregon lost at home to Indiana as a 20 point favorite and now must go to Soonerville. Sooners usually not big on covering these big points spreads but no way can I back the quackers. By the way, this game on the original Oregon schedule was Oregon vs UNR but was switched when they got a shot at national TV vs the Sooners. Lay it! OKLA.

ND (-3) at Mich State: Irish caught Michigan last week in good spot but don’t think it will happen this week. Michigan State is 7-1 ATS against the Irish and now get points at home? MICH ST.

Clemson (-3) at Texas A&M: Clemson off back to back life and death conference games winning one and losing a heartbreaker last week to Georgia Tech. Now they must travel to A&M. Aggies much improved as they played Utah tough till the end and shot out Wyoming last week 31-0. Points look good here as this game looks to come down to the wire. TEX A&M.

UCLA (pk) at Washington: Not real crazy about either team but the Bruins did rebound nicely to get win at Illinois. Huskies had a week off after losing at home to a very good Fresno State team that went into Kansas State and blew them away. Bruins 6-0-1 ATS last seven meetings. Must side with trend and take the Bruins. UCLA.

Florida (+3) at Tennessee: This should be a real barn burner. Gators got humbled at home last year by the Volunteers 24-10. Florida looks to have a potent offense this year and will get revenge for last year’s defeat with sophomore QB Leak leading the way. FLORIDA

Minnesota (-4) at Colo State: Colorado State beat up by USC last week while gophers had a nice prep with Illinois State. MINNESOTA.

Last week: 5-3

Season: 9-7

NFL
Sunday, Sept. 19

Dolphins (+3½) at Bengals: Just want no part of Miami team that flat out have no offense. They only averaged nine points in four preseason games and just scored one TD last week. Cincy played Jets tough the entire game and should put the fish away early. BENGALS.

Monday, Sept. 20

Vikings (+3½) at Eagles: These two have only met twice last 10 years. Both games did go over and this one looks headed that way. With a total of 48, it will be tough. Both teams coming off convincing wins last week. Must side with the home loving Eagles if game goes down to -3. EAGLES, OVER 48.

Last week: 2-1

Season: 2-1
