Heat melts Wisky, take Zona

Sep 14, 2004 6:34 AM

The Wisconsin-Arizona matchup has two teams with expectations that might or might not be attainable. With the Wildcats, just respectability under new coach Mike Stoops would be acceptable. As for Wisconsin, there is the possibility of looking straight ahead toward a Big Ten title.

This week the ticket will be on Arizona. First you have a number (10½) which is about what you saw last week when Utah visited Arizona last week. I watched the game and the final score was misleading. If Mike Bell does not fumble the ball on the 5 with the possibility of going, Utah never figures to cover. The yardage in the game was almost equal and the Stoops intangibles are starting to show.

Wisky without RB Anthony Davis and relying on QB John Stocco was less than impressive with its win over UNLV. A few more things. Saturday in the Tucson desert on stadium grass won’t be fun. And, Wisconsin opens Big Ten play next week against an angry Penn State bunch. You will definitely see me with that double-digit home dog "ticket" in my jeans.

Take care, Jimmy V
