Ohio State will pay for overlooking Wildcats

Sep 28, 2004 8:33 AM

UNLV suffered a humiliating loss at home as a 13-point favorite 31-21 at the hands of Utah State on Saturday to start the season 0-4.

Coach John Robinson announced he will retire at the end of the season. It’s just a shame that the great city of Las Vegas can’t put together a winning program. What UNLV needs is a Randall Cunningham to add some spark. How about it, bring on Randall!

Wednesday, Sept. 29

Miami, O (+6) at Marshall: Miami Ohio is 0-3 ATS due mostly to bad defense. The Thundering Herd is 2-1 ATS. Marshall lost a heartbreaker at Ohio State, 24-21. Big time revenge game for Marshall, which lost at Oxford, 45-6. MARSHALL $$$.

Thursday, Sept. 30

Pittsburgh (+6½) at Conn: Panthers were in life and death battle to beat Furman last week in OT, 41-38. This is definitely not one of your better Pitt teams. U Conn laying in wait to get its first Big East win. CONN.

Navy (PK) at Air Force: Navy is 4-0 SU and beat Air Force last year in Landover, 28-25. Air Force really battled with a very good Utah team last week losing a real slugfest 49-35. Could come down to who gets the ball to bounce its way. NAVY.

Friday, October 1

Utah (-10) at New Mexico: Utah was on a roll last year when New Mexico came into town and kicked butt as a seven-point dog, 47-35. The Utes have double revenge here, losing two straight years to the Lobos. New Mexico plays good defense and 10 seems too much. NEW MEXICO.

Saturday, Oct. 2

Purdue (-1) at N. Dame: This should be a real good game. The second of three straight road games for the Boilermakers and will be their toughest so far. Purdue trying to avert a Big Ten sweep by Notre Dame, which has already beaten Michigan and Michigan State. The Fighting Irish definitely on the rise after losing the opener to BYU. NOTRE DAME $$$

LSU (+3) at Georgia: The Bulldogs lost both meetings last year (17-10 at home as a two-point favorite, 34-13 in the SEC title game as a three-point dog). I don’t see many points being put on the board in this game so must stick with LSU, who look to have the Bulldogs number. Should be low scoring. LSU, UNDER.

Ohio St (-11) at N’western:Buckeyes have big game staring them in the face next week as they get Wisconsin at home. Wildcats got blanked in Columbus last year as a 20 point dog, 20-0. Look for Cats to stay close and cover. N’WESTERN.

Last week: 3-6

Season: 17-18

Monday, Oct. 4

Chiefs (+4½) at Ravens (41½): Chiefs are 0-3 both SU and ATS with their low point coming last week after losing at home to Houston. Ravens are 2-1 and play great D. RAVENS.

Last week: 1-1

Season: 4-5
