HAWTHORNE PARK

MAGIC IN THE CITY: Looks set to break maiden at Hawthorne after showing good early speed when brought back off a little layoff. Look for this filly to go wire to wire in her next at a nice price.

COWBOY CODE: Was up fairly close to the pace early but had to drop back and swing out for some running room. Once clear he ran on to get up for a nice win.

BROAD ACRES: This horse is a trip handicappers dream horse. He stumbled at the start and was forced to check hard. Came up the rail in the stretch but had to take up in tight quarters. Got through and actually got his head in front but lost by a nostril on the head bob. $$$

SPACE HERO: D. Wayne Lucas first time starter got bet hard and battled it out with the winner the entire trip only to lose a hard fought decision by a neck. He was eight lengths clear of the rest of the field and should be a short price winner in his next.

LA LUNA DE ORO: Was coming off a nice win on the grass and moved up to allowance off the claim. Just could not handle the rise in class. If dropped back to the claiming ranks, this filly will be a nice play at a price.

BAY MEADOWS

THUNDER DRAGON: Was pulling hard while stalking the pace to the half. Remained stuck on the inside and into the stretch. Forged through a small opening to get to the front but got nailed late and had to settle for second.

BURST YOUR BUBBLE: Turf specialist is back in top form and should be able to move up and repeat off the claim.

BENCHMARK: Broke out and was bumped at the start. Raced behind rivals with no place to go to the half. Got out, rallied wide and came on steadily to get the score in a nice effort.

NEILS ADVICE: This guy was let go at 30-1. If not for a ton of trouble, just may have lit up the tote board. Was making a big inside rally on the second turn but got caught behind the tiring leaders and had to be checked hard. Waited for room but got clear too late.

HILLSIDE WAY: Was bumped between horses at the start and squeezed off to fall far back. She weaved her way, came wide on the turn, and finished fast to be a much better than looked fourth. A clean trip will get this girl home next time.

WAKI AMERICAN: Art Sherman tried to get away with one here but lost Waki at the claim box. This guy won so easy it was almost funny how the jock took hold of him down the lane. $$$

SATINE ROUGE: Was in from Kentucky and got bet like the race was over. SR tracked the leader to the second turn but got caught behind horses and blocked. She eased out and closed like a rocket ship to get up for the win. This girl will move up and repeat.

CHOOSE WISELY: May just be a very wise bet when she returns to the grass. Showed an affinity to the green in her first start here despite much trouble.

MAHALO: Was bumped and squeezed off at the start to fall behind. Jock showed patience and did not panic. Advanced wide to the turn and finished full of run to just miss the place. $$$
