My best streak: Vaccaro!

Oct 5, 2004 12:31 PM

I have received a lot of e-mails that are interested in streaks. I know a lot of bettors follow streaks in baseball, but here are some in football that may just help you out.

First of all, my good friend Jimmy Vaccaro has gone 5-0 in his GT picks and I am happy to say that I have been on all five wins. There is a really good streak this week in college football as Kansas State faces KU. K-State. has won and covered 10 straight in this series. The only catch this year is that KU is 4-0-1 ATS and Kansas State is 0-3 ATS.

By the way, Kansas continued its losing ways last week in a hard fought loss at Nebraska. The Jayhawks have now lost 36 straight to the Cornhuskers. In the NFL the Patriots won their 18th straight game and continue to look like the best team.

On to this week’s selections and a big thanks to Northwestern for getting me out of trouble last week.

College football
Thursday, Oct. 7

Houston (+18) at So. Miss: I want no more of Cougars, who failed to show up against Memphis last week. Houston has just one meaningless cover this year, which came from a fluke TD at the end of the first half against Miami, Florida when getting 28 points. In three games, USM is 3-0 SU and ATS. That’s good. SO. MISS

Clemson (+15) at Virginia: Clemson is 0-4 ATS and Virginia has been playing great, though this is its first major test. This has been a dog series for years and Clemson is getting more than 2 touchdowns. The Tigers are a must take. CLEMSON $$$

Friday, Oct. 8

UNLV (+10½) at BYU: The Rebels broke out of their funk last week with a rousing 48-13 win over archrival Nevada. BYU also off a nice win over Colorado State, 31-21. This has been a dog-oriented series with the chalk just 1-6 ATS. Take the points. UNLV.

Saturday, Oct. 9

Texas (+7) vs Oklahoma: Both teams come in 4-0, but each is a sorry 1-3 ATS. The Sooners have won and covered the last four meetings, three as the dog. Texas was crushed last year in Dallas, 65-13. Longhorns look to gain back some respect and will play this game life and death. TEXAS.

Stanford (+4½) at N. Dame: The Cardinal are 4-0 ATS this year and almost got the win against So. Cal losing late as a 23-point dog, 31-28. The Irish are 6-2 ATS against Stanford and won easy at Stanford last year, 57-7. Looks like a game that will be decided by a field goal. STANFORD.

Purdue (+11) at Penn St.: Boilermakers come in 4-0 SU and off a big win at Notre Dame. Jo Pa and his Lions are in deep trouble and will be hard pressed to stop juggernaut Purdue "O." Minnesota, as a 12-point favorite, scored just 16 on Penn State. Look for more of the same here. PENN ST.

Last week: 4-4

Season: 21-22

Sunday, Oct. 10

Ravens (PK) at Redskins (35½): These two have met twice in 10 years with both games low scoring affairs. Ravens don’t give up much and the Skins don’t score a lot. UNDER.

Monday, Oct. 11

Titans (+3) at Packers (37): Both teams need a win in worst way. Titans have been stuck on 17 this year, scoring that amount in three of four games. Last week, Tennessee managed just 12 in loss to the Jags. Packers have lost three straight since an opening week win at Carolina. I look for Favre to be back with a rage as Pack will be all out not to get a third straight home loss. PACKERS.

Last week: 0-1

Season: 4-6
