With the holidays fast approaching, how can one not think of shopping? Well, the Palms casino would like to make the task less painful by giving players a chance to become an instant millionaire.

Throughout November, the Palms, in conjunction with KLAS-TV (the local CBS affiliate), will give 23 lucky morning news viewers the chance to hit the multi-million dollar Megabucks jackpot at the Palms.

Each weekday, the name of a registered viewer will be announced on the morning newscast. If the person calls the station in a timely manner, he or she will be given 88 free maximum-bet pulls on a Megabucks machine (the game requires three $1 bets to qualify for the statewide progressive).

"With Megabucks approaching $14 million, it’s hard to imagine a more exciting holiday gift," said Casey Smith, morning anchor for Channel 8’s Eyewitness News team. "It would definitely be better than a pair of house slippers!"

The daily winners get their chance to hit the "big one" at weekly Megabucks Morning Millionaire parties held at the Palms on Wednesdays between Nov. 10 and Dec. 1. If a winner doesn’t show up, a replacement will be chosen from the crowd via random drawing, and four members of the audience at each party will win seven maximum-bet pulls on the machine.

To add to the excitement, a random drawing will select one winner from each week to win a second round of 88 maximum-bet pulls at the fifth and final Millionaire party to be held on Dec. 8. In addition to the four contest finalists selected at the previous parties, four players will be selected by random drawing on the spot, and they, too, will win 88 free pulls. All eight contestants will also be eligible to win the drawing for a Palms New Year’s Eve VIP package.

Megabucks is a statewide progressive game designed and operated by IGT. The $1 game features a progressive that resets at $5 million and plays until hit.
