We’re ‘washing’ our hands of supporting State

File Washington State as a go-against team when Pac 10 play begins after New Year’s.

The Cougars scored just two points in the first 17 minutes against unbeaten Oklahoma State during a brutal 81-29 loss at Stillwater.

One school that turned a bad loss into a positive is North Carolina, which won its sixth straight with a home victory over Kentucky. The Tar Heels lost their season opener in Oakland against Santa Clara. Led by standout Rashad McCants, UNC now looks good on that Sports Illustrated cover.

We’ll attempt to squeeze in a couple of picks for games being played Wednesday.

ND (+1) at Indiana: Hoosiers off impressive efforts in losses to UNC and Conn. Crowd helps here. IU.

Penn (+5) at Temple: The 50th anniversary year for Big Five ball in Philly. Take the points. PENN.

Rutgers (+3) at Princeton: The pick and roll back in rare form at Princeton. Expect a game in the low 50s. UNDER.
